You Did It!

*this post is part of the workshop series Your Holiday Game Plan

You made it to January 2, 2015! It’s been two months since you developed Your Holiday Game Plan.

How did it go?

Personally, I did well with drinking enough water each day, enjoyed celebrating advent with my family, and brought healthy foods to parties and family gatherings. Exercise was my weak link. I failed to schedule in my workouts at the beginning of the week and it was always the first thing to go. January will afford more time to get back on track, but next year I will make sure I do a better job in this important area.

Where do you go from here? I know many of you are making health related goals for 2015 (or I hope you are!). My job as a health & wellness coach is to hold my clients accountable to making sustainable lifestyle changes in their health. Diet’s don’t work because they are temporary fixes. Diet’s don’t work because they are not sustainable changes. Diets don’t work.

What works:
Make health your hobby. Become interested in seasonal, regional ingredients that benefit your health. Take a cooking class with a friend. Subscribe a reputable health blog (I will be launching mine this year!).
Be in community. Surrounding ourselves with upbeat, positive people is like making a deposit into our health bank account. Alternately, volunteer your time. Our brains release “happy hormones” when we give of ourselves toward helping others.
Keep Moving. Remember: the best exercise is the one you will do!
Go Raw. If we are going to get the most nutrients out of our fruits & vegetables, we need to eat many of them raw. Phytochemicals abound in vegetables; research continues to reveal their health benefits and cancer-fighting properties.

Thank you for taking this journey with me over the past two months. Please let me know what worked for you and in what ways you struggled.
I invite you to contact me about individual coaching as a way to make lasting lifestyle changes. If you know of someone who could benefit from my services (coaching, workplace wellness, pantry makeover, smart shopping trips, etc.) please forward this email or send their information my way.
I plan to have my blog up and running soon and will let you all know how to subscribe.

Good luck and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy New Year!

Amy
